In mid-to-late April, we finally look forward to the cultural tour to Chiang mai, Thailand. This cultural tour is different from the past. In addition to understanding the local culture and local customs, we should also help and serve the local people by ourselves. So this cultural tour is also an important part of our CAS (creation, action and service) program this academic year.

Arriving in Chiang mai and living in the campus like nature, I felt relaxed and happy.

The next morning, we made some Thai specialties by ourselves and learned some Thai culture from the Thai teachers, such as their language, costumes, and the distribution and living conditions of the ethnic minorities in Thailand. At school, I know a lot about the United States, Britain and other European and American countries, but I know very little about our neighbor Thailand. This study tour gives me a chance to know more about Thailand.

In Thailand, for some ethnic groups living in the mountains, the living environment is very difficult, they farm and work for a living, so it is always difficult to see young people in the village. There are social hierarchies between villages and between nations. Some ethnic minority areas of the people, life is very poor, the children were born identity is not recognized by the Thai government, that is to say, they do not have identity CARDS, so the children can not go to school, sometimes the police will be inexplicably arrested. When we heard this, we were surprised. Isn't it a terrible vicious circle? The bottom people can't go to school, and the state doesn't help them, so how can they change their status quo? Will their children and grandchildren have no chance to change their fate in this lifetime? We don't know, just a surge of sadness.

On the third day, we went to the local tribes in Chiang mai. Here, we learned about and visited the residence of a couple. Local residents also introduced us to mountain herbs used for healing, such as lemon grass, which repels mosquitoes. They also showed us how to dye strings of cotton threads, wrap them in wads, and finally weave a beautiful cloth. At the same time, we also know that their life is not easy. The hospital is far away from where they live. If they get sick, they have to ride for two hours to get to the hospital. It usually takes two or three months to make a garment. The store that sells everyday things is very small, only a few square meters...

The most interesting part of the trip was preparing food for the father elephant and bathing the mother elephant in mud. We cut bananas and sugar cane into puree, and the elephant father probably smelled the fragrance and came slowly towards us (he is a picky eater, only eats bananas). We gave the mother a mud bath -- we put mud on the elephant to give her sun protection. Although almost every student dirty clothes, but can not affect the excitement of everyone, and the elephant to an intimate contact we are both nervous and excited!

In the afternoon, we went back and forth in the school's small farm, visited the self-sufficient farm, fed the sheep with organic grass, and picked many natural organic vegetables grown on the farm and brought them to the kitchen.

We learned how to make a fire, how to cut vegetables, how to cook delicious meat, and finally we made a plate of delicious and delicious rice. It was a new experience, and the most important thing was to learn new skills.

Finally, we spent two happy days with the children in a kindergarten in the countryside. Just entered the kindergarten, a group of lively and lovely children rushed to us, in order to welcome our arrival, they danced a very lovely dance. Soon we several big brothers big sisters will blend into the children pile, although the language barrier, but we have fun together. When they had a rest, we visited the kindergarten, it is hard to imagine that these small rooms should accommodate so many children! Some classrooms are still being built, so we decided to build more classrooms for our children.

We began to learn how to build the wall, from sifting the earth, to mixing the cement, and then to lay the cement flat on the wall brick, each piece of work is extremely time-consuming and energy consuming, the degree of hard work is far beyond our expectations, we can not help but sigh: "construction workers are not easy! cars only

Substantial in content and rich cultural tour ended soon, besides we harvested quite a lot, feeling a lot of cultural learning, Chiang mai, beautiful campus scenery, 5 km canoe paddling experience, and classmates swimming time, handmade hand pilaf, bathed the elephant mother, learned to build by laying bricks or stones wall, personally build a house for the children... Let us feel happy and fulfilled, looking forward to the next cultural tour.
